| This is the place that always astounds first-time visitors. Two hours from Lafayette and your senses are filled by the sights, sounds and fresh fragrances of trails carved into steep moss-covered ravines that lead you to, over, or under six waterfalls. If you are quiet and patient, you could see chipmunks, marbled salamanders, and possibly birds of prey, or wild turkey. A unique wilderness, civilized by the beautifully constructed staircases and observation decks, but still possessing miles of undeveloped streambeds surrounded by towering ridges. What does Level 1 mean? This hike will take you through the Clark Creek Natural Area at a relaxed pace. We'll hike the improved trail all the way to the end and drop into the creek bottoms. You'll see 4-5 waterfalls on this hike. Level 1 is designed for those that want to take things at a slower, easier pace. PLEASE NOTE: While easier than the Level 2 Waterfall Hike - this hike is still fairly demanding and requires some hill climbing. |
