Patagonia
grew out of a small company that once made climbing gear. Gear that
profoundly changed the way climbers put up new routes in Yosemite
Valley in the 60's and 70's. Today, alpinism remains at the heart
of Patagonias business that now makes clothes for paddlers,
anglers, endurance athletes and others who aspire to move more freely
through the natural world.
Patagonias products must be simple, functional and suitable
to the task at hand. The function will dictate the form. Functionally
driven design is usually minimalist. Less is more. Antoine de St.
Exupéry perhaps expressed it best when he wrote: "In anything
at all, perfection is finally attained not when there is no longer
anything to add, but when there is no longer anything to take away..."
Patagonia designs so that you forget you're wearing the clothes or
carrying your gear, and focus on the experience.
When Pack & Paddle started carrying Patagonia clothing in 1976,
the line consisted of canvas Stand Up shorts, Rugby shirts and a few
pre fleece fleece jackets that felt more like burlap than
the current state of the are fleece jackets available today. Since
then, our presentation of Patagonia products has grown with the company
to include casual clothing, Capilene underwear, fleece layers, waterproof
outerwear, accessories and more.
