Keep the Atchafalaya Wild Night
Join us for a special night that celebrates one of Louisiana's greatest natural resources - the Atchafalaya Basin. This amazing wilderness lies only a stone's throw from Lafayette and offers all of us as outdoors people an incredible opportunity for adventure. The Night will feature live music from Drew Landry, a presentation of the recent Cross Basin Canoe trip, a talk by activist Harold Schoeffler and a presentation by Dean and Cara Wilson - Atchafalaya Basinkeepers.
Support Atchafalaya Basinkeepers
On this special evening, we encourage you to support the Atchafalalya Basinkepper program through donations or by becoming a member of the Basinkeeper program. The first 20 families that join the Basinkeeper initiative with at least a $50 donation will receive a special gift from The North Face.
Artist Jon McManus has donated his art work to raise funds for the Atchafalaya Basinkeeper. During the evening, you will have the opportunity to purchase a special greeting card created by Jon that depicts a beautiful basin scene. These cards will be sold for $5 each. All proceeds go directly to the Atchafalaya Basinkeeper program. In addition, we'll hold a silent auction for the original framed art work by Jon McManus. This one of a kind piece of art will be something you will treasure for years to come. All proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to the Atchafalaya Basinkeeper Program.
Thursday, February 11th
Free - But we suggest that you join the Basinkeeper Initiative that night.
Waterfall Hike
Level 1 - Saturday Feb 20th
Level 2 - Sunday Feb 21st
This is the place that always astounds first-time visitors. Two hours from Lafayette and your senses are filled by the sights, sounds and fresh fragrances of trails carved into steep moss-covered ravines that lead you to, over, or under six waterfalls. If you are quiet and patient, you could see chipmunks, marbled salamanders, and possibly birds of prey, or wild turkey. A unique wilderness, civilized by the beautifully constructed staircases and observation decks, but still possessing miles of undeveloped streambeds surrounded by towering ridges.
